The 2011 WestFest Talent Competition for dancers, singers, pianists, musicians & other performers will be held during WestFest at Centennial Park
3 Age Divisions:
Youth: Ages 10-13
Junior Division: Ages 14-15
Senior Division: Ages 16 & Older
Prize Money Will Be Awarded In EACH Of The Three Divisions:
1st Place $200.00
2nd Place $100.00
3rd Place $50.00
The Preliminary Competitions Will Be Held
Youth Thursday, June 23rd 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Junior Thursday, June 23rd 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Senior Friday, June 24th 6:00-7:00 p.m.
The TOP Performers In Each Division Will Compete In The Finals:
Youth Friday, June 24th 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Junior Saturday, June 25th 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Senior Saturday, June 25th 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Winners will be Announced and Prize Money Awarded After the FINAL Competitions.
Five judges will adjudicate performances. Judges will be chosen based on their level and area of expertise. Each judge will award points in 3 separate categories. (100 points possible).
TECHNICAL SKILL 1-10 Points
STAGE PRESENCE 1-5 Points
ORIGINALITY/UNIQUENESS 1-5 Points
A $10.00 Competition Fee will be assessed per performance. Only cash will be accepted and it must be paid at the audition. (Please refer to the PDF file for additional rules.)
Interested participants will need to schedule an audition (beginning May 1st) with Marcelle Nordfelt (talent@westfest.org). Auditions will be held TUESDAY, JUNE 7th & WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8th from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center (3100 South 1500 West) Those invited to compete in the Talent Showcase will by notified be email after all the auditions have taken place.
PERFORMERS SHOULD BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THEIR AUDITION:
$10.00 Competition Fee (CASH ONLY)
Completed Competition Application, including signatures (click on link, print, fill out)
A Printed Copy of the Lyrics to any song that will be danced or to be performed
Dancers should wear the costume they will perform in
Music can be brought on either a CD or MP3 player/iPod
Accompanists need to be at the audition as well
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A RESIDENT OF WEST VALLEY CITY IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TALENT COMPETITION!
